Kylie has some important questions to pose. Think long and hard!!!!!!

Going into observations this semester, what do you expect to be seeing that could be different than other semesters? How do you feel about teaching the students this semester, knowing that some may be with you in-person and some may be remote? How will you handle those different delivery systems and teach them? What problems do you suspect you might come across this semester?

  1. While observing, I expect to see students and teachers attempting to learn and teach in this new way of life. It's difficult to tell how much students are actually retaining but never impossible. I am observing via remote and it has it's good and bad days. Some days students will just be out of it and sometimes they are extremely engaged and participating. I have not figured out why that happens. I'm learning new methods and strategies to use in a classroom and it's really fun getting an insight on how the "new norm" may be. I hope to address my future students whether remote or in-person with these new delivery systems. The only difficulty I've come across is not being able to show the real me physically to the students, I like to move and teach in person. This new custom is a bit difficult when I revolve my teaching to social emotion and movement, especially with younger grades.

  2. Going into my observations, I always look for the various students and teachers in that classroom and how everyone works together to achieve all of the goals that each school day provides. During times of virtual learning, it is extremely difficult to tell how much of the material is being retained during that particular unit of study. For my district, I plan to observe in a "Hybrid" model and it brings forth a unique sense of learning as each day hold something different. There are moments where everyone is hitting their strides, and other days they are not, and it is up to us to understand where the disconnect is and how to fix it within the classroom. It is very important apply new methods and strategies to use in a classroom and how they can lead to the day progressing as smoothly as possible. It becomes of major importance to me to be a consistent motivator and role model in the classroom and keep my students on task. Difficulties will most certainty arise and it tends to become that when dealing with younger grades. Overall, it is up to us to have that drive to create solutions to the various problems that may arise and to keep the students engaged and in a good state of mind throughout each and every school day.
