Dr. Ries is interested in your take on student teachng

What are some of your concerns as you venture forward into the world of teaching?  In what ways do you feel prepared?  In what areas do you feel that you have more to learn?  What subject do you feel most prepared to teach?

  1. While venturing into the new world of teaching, it is quite different from when I began this journey. I honestly feel as though I took for granted physically being able to observe in person in a classroom. I feel prepared in many ways. I was able to observe in person while also observing virtual teaching; which is the new norm. I need to have more practice and much to learn in classroom management. I feel most prepared to teach math and reading.

  2. Some of my concerns as I venture forward into the world of teaching is being able to handle in person and virtual teaching. I have seen first hand how teachers are struggling with virtual teaching and how stressed out they have become. Although I am concerned about juggling that, I do feel prepared to become a teacher. I have observed many teachers in many different schools so I have seen many different ways of teaching, ways that work and ways that do not. I feel most prepared to teach language arts, specifically read alouds.

    1. The concerns that I have venturing into the "virtual" world of teaching is being able to handle the "hybrid" model of teaching. We have all witness first hand how teachers tend to struggle with virtual teaching and how stressed out they have become along with still having in person as well depending on the day. Despite the obstacles, I feel more prepared to become a teacher as I have observed many great teachers in many different aspects of learning which has lead me to see different ways of teaching the main subjects and the responsibilities that come with them so that each and every student in the classroom has the opportunity to be successful.
